FESS endoscopic sinus surgery
Effective sinus treatment performed at MEA Clinic in Warsaw is the result of our many years of experience in this field, as well as the implemented state-of-the-art FESS method (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery). What is this method? How is it carried out? Preparation for surgery and recommendations after surgery.
Sinus endoscopy is an extremely effective diagnostic and surgical method indicated for acute or chronic sinusitis. We use this minimally invasive method as a safe alternative to pharmacological treatment, also when anatomical abnormalities are found that are the cause of pathological changes.

FESS endoscopic sinus surgery - indications
The procedure is most often performed in people:im
-
nasal speech,
-
suffering from acute or chronic rhinosinusitis (with or without polyps) - if treatment with sinus medications has proved ineffective,
-
with paranasal sinus cysts,
-
with a deviated nasal septum,
-
with sinus abscess,
-
with purulent sinuses
-
with polyps,
-
with benign tumors,
-
with a foreign body in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses,
-
in developmental defects of the nasal and sinus cavities.
Qualification for the FESS procedure
-
In order for a patient to undergo endoscopic sinus surgery, he or she must undergo a medical history, nasal endoscopy and computed tomography.
-
The latter allows for correct diagnosis of lesions and determination of the extent of the surgical procedure. Thanks to this modern method, surgical intervention is possible already at the initial stage of the inflammatory process.
-
It is also necessary to consult an anesthesiologist to rule out contraindications to general anesthesia. In addition, blood tests, ECG and chest X-rays are performed.
FESS procedure
-
eliminates the causes of hypertrophic changes within the mucosa - restores the proper aeration of the paranasal sinuses,
-
allows you to clean all the sinuses - maxillary, frontal, ethmoid and sphenoid,
-
clears the natural connections of the sinuses with the nasal cavity - i.e. the so-called ostia-ductal complexes,
-
allows you to eliminate the causes of inflammation of the paranasal sinuses.
-
the treatment is distinguished by minimal invasiveness, very high precision and short recovery period.
