Causes of the septal curve
The causes of the curve of the nasal septum can be traced from birth. It is during childbirth that the organ flattens, which can cause a crooked nasal septum. Most often, this condition is short-lived and after a few weeks the correct shape of the nose returns, but in a few cases, unfortunately, we are dealing with a permanent skew of the tissues.
Suffering an injury while playing, playing sports or in other accidental events are other causes of septal deviation. Genetic conditions that make the curvature visible with age are also significant. Developmental changes in this situation cause disproportionate growth of the flexible cartilage, which in turn leads to its S- or C-shaped bend. Thus, we are dealing with the need to perform nasal septum surgery. The procedure of straightening the nasal septum can help to obtain the desired appearance, but also definitely affect the comfort and quality of life.
Septal deviation - diagnosis
Diagnosing the curvature of the nasal septum by our otolaryngologist is in fact the same as the operation of the nasal septum.
In other cases, surgical intervention is recommended when other treatments have simply failed.
The nasal septum correction procedures we propose are aimed at unblocking it and, as a result, trouble-free air flow.

Nasal septum surgery - indications
In addition to the existing cosmetic defect and nasal asymmetry, the surgical procedure of the curve of the nasal septum is indicated by symptomatic deviation of the nasal septum in the form of:
- nasal speech,
- significant restriction of nasal patency,
- nasal breathing problems,
- recurrent diseases of the paranasal sinuses,
- recurrent diseases of the tear ducts,
recurrent and persistent nosebleeds, - severe allergic changes in the nasal
- mucosa.
In addition, nasal septum surgery is sometimes a preliminary stage before planned procedures that require surgical access through the nose, such as:

transsphenoidal resection of pituitary adenoma,

functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS),

decongesting surgeries for choanal atresia.
Curvature of the nasal septum - symptoms
Symptoms of nasal septum deviation include:

problems with the patency of the nose - the feeling of "nasal congestion" on one or both sides,

frequent recurring infections of the upper respiratory tract - incl. sinusitis, pharyngitis, otitis,

arising due to the retention of secretions that are not efficiently removed through the nose,

periodic plugging of the ears - its cause is poor equalization of pressure in the middle ear,

- diabetes – depending on its nature, correction of the tip of the nose can be carried out.
